Peach Floating Cobbler

Summer is finally here you know what that means, raspa's, drinks by the pool and of course ice cream floats. These aren't just root beer floats though they are peach cobbler floats. This ice cream float  recipe is amazeballs (yup that's a real word) It's a fruit cobbler with a scoop of ice cream, only you drink it with a straw. Trust us its delish! It's so easy to make, all of you non bakers would love this.

We're definitely those girls that bake something every chance they get but who wants to turn on the oven when it's 110 degrees outside. That's why these are so perfect. It tastes just like a fruit cobbler only there's no measuring cups or spoons involved. Plus it's all made and enjoyed in one cup so adios dirty dishes.

The best thing, other than not washing dishes, is these floating cobblers can be made with just about any fruit.  One of the main ingredients in these little cups of heaven is the flavored soda. Peach soda with peach cobbler, blueberry soda with blueberry cobbler and so on. Just check your grocery store to see what flavor soda's they carry. We stuck with the IZZE products, they have tons and tons of flavors. They won't disappoint.

The only thing to remember when making these floating cobblers is try not to eat all the ingredients while you're putting it together. The mason jars want some too!

Peach Floating Cobblers

Peach Flavored Soda

3. Put a dollop of ice cream on the top.
4. Crush a sugar cookie on top of the float and add a dash of cinnamon.

The Paloma

Grapefruit and tequila seem to be the best combo. It's a mixture of tartness and sweetness. The Paloma is one of our favorite summer cocktails by far. You can use fresh grapefruit juice but we've taken a little shortcut, Jarritos flavored sodas have changed our world. We've started adding them to a lot of our cocktails. They taste so fresh and they have just enough sweetness. I don't know if we'll be able to survive this summer without them!

The Paloma
1 oz lime juice
1 1/2 oz tequila
5 oz grapefruit soda

In a salt rimmed glass mix lime juice and tequila.
Add ice, then top it off with the grapefruit soda.

Use a Mexican grapefruit soda, preferably Jarritos, it makes all the difference!

Homemade Pretzels with Roasted Jalapeno Cheese Sauce

We love this time of year. It's Spurs playoff time! Usually the Spurs playoff games aren't complete for us without guacamole and Dos Eguis. Lately we've been in need of a change. Now when four girls are looking for a new recipe where's the first place they go to, Pinterest of course. Pinterest always has the best recipes just like this pretzel recipe
We had to channel our "inner Martha Stewart" when making these pretzels. We'll admit pretzel making seemed so time consuming but wow the end result is AMAZING! We think yeast just became our new best friend. Now that we've conquered homemade pretzels maybe homemade rosemary bread is next!
Keep in mind making pretzels takes a LOT of patience. We promise if you don't rush through everything your pretzels will come out soft and buttery. The aroma coming out of your oven will make it all worth it. Once you see how great your pretzels look you'll be happy you made them from scratch. This particular recipe is fantastic too because the saltiness of the pretzel goes well with the spicy dip. Bravo to anything with roasted jalapenos!
If you're like us you're probably terrified of any recipes that call for yeast. Guess what you don't have to be! We have just a few "pretzel making" tips and a recipe that'll make it seem easy for just about anybody.

-when forming the shape of the pretzel it might help to hold the dough by the ends (the "U" shape) this helps to lengthen the dough so you have nice size pretzels
-keep a damp towel over your already shaped pretzels so the dough doesn't dry up
-when you're ready to bake off the pretzels make sure to spray the pans LIBERALLY

Glowing summer skin

getglowing
Recently I've been reading all my labels on my beauty products. The thought of having Fragrance 1 or any other weird ingredient on my face is to much for me to handle. You know what one ingredient a LOT of beauty products have in common is, Glycerin. That little ingredient is probably in just about every facial product or hair product you own. Actually that ingredient works wonders when you pair it with some simple things like honey, egg whites, lemon juice or oats. Glycerin is a humectant, which means it attracts moisture to your skin. However if you use just pure glycerin it can dry out your skin so remember to ALWAYS dilute it. Glycerin is very easy to come by and it's very easy to make a facial mask with. I'm talking throw two or three ingredients in a bowl and you're done. Your face will be soft and glowing after using this honey and glycerin mask. Some people even call it a miracle mask!

Spicy Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita

Perfecting the perfect margarita can be a bit challenging. Believe me though if there is one thing we know it's a good margarita! When you're born and raised in San Antonio you learn a few things.
This spicy and sweet Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita is one of those margarita recipes that everyone should have on hand. It's a perfect drink for summer. It wakes up your taste buds with that kick of jalapeno and the sweetness of the watermelon just finishes off the drink perfectly. Katy is our resident bartender in our household so she uses nothing but the freshest ingredients. Fresh watermelon is the key to this drink. Just cut up your watermelon in chunks and blend on high speed. When the watermelon is pureed sieve it through a strainer so you get nothing but that beautiful watermelon juice. As for us we only added one round slice of seedless jalapeno, but if your feeling a bit more daring you can always use two slices.

Its been Style Dossier tested and mother approved (literally) so you know it has to be good. We cant wait for you to try it! Let us know what you guys think!

Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita:
1 oz tequila
1 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz agave
1/2 oz fresh orange juice
2 oz fresh watermelon juice
1 slice of seedless jalapeno

Pour all the ingredients including the sliced jalapeno into a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a salt rimmed glass. Garnish with fresh limes, chunks of watermelon or jalapeno slices. Enjoy!
