H.E.B Oaks Crossing

rsz_heb
In Texas, HEB is our staple grocery store. A place where you think you can only get groceries right? Wrong! You know the saying "Everything is bigger in Texas"? Well the HEB at Oaks Cossing just did it BIG!
With a fabulous and delicious restaurant inside and a full size bar you can pick up tampons, grab a bite to eat AND get a Bloody Mary all at one stop. It's perfect!
The great people at HEB invited us to check out their new store, and we're so glad we did. Not only are the people kind but the food is fantastic. Go hungry though, the portions are big and will leave you with leftovers. The crispy brussel sprouts are the way to go when choosing an appetizer. Entree wise, everything that's on the menu is nothing short of delicious. And the brisket! Oh the brisket! That's all we have to say about that. (It's on point!)
And if that doesn't make you want to try it out. They have amazing things and deals going on almost every day of the week.
Monday-kids eat free (with a purchase of an adult entree)
Wednesday- wine Wednesday! (25% off selected bottles of wine)
Fri, Sat, Sun- live music all weekend (they have lined up some great people to play so make sure you check that out)
Sunday- BRUNCH! (Our favorite) 10am-2pm brunch is served, mimosas and all!
We hope y'all take the trip out to Stone Oak and visit our friends at the Market at Oak Crossings. We loved it and we know everyone else will too!

Special thanks to HEB! Y'all are the best!

Dossier does Urban Taco

rsz_1urbantaco
We were so lucky to have been invited to check out Urban Taco, which in our opinion is one of the top mexican restaurants in San Antonio. The atmosphere couldn't have been better, and the food is to die for. For starters you HAVE to try the avocado ceviche tower. It didn't last long, we couldn't get enough. We would totally recommend the quesadillas because well, their delicious. Trust us! Of course we couldn't go to a place with "taco" in the name and not order some tacos! They certainly live up to their name. The tacos were so flavorful. Great taste and great presentation. You know us, we cant go to a restaurant and not order some cocktails. Needless to say, we left there happy. The drinks we tried were spot on, strong but not to strong. Just the right amount of delicious. If your feeling dangerous definitely order the mezcal. Their margaritas were killer, in a good way, and they have a great happy hour! We give Urban Taco 5 out of 5 tacos! Get there this weekend we promise you wont regret it. Enjoy!

Scramble it up!

I've been trying to make it a point to eat breakfast on the daily. I don't always have time to whip up something fancy, but that's why I love scrambles. Throw anything in, scramble your eggs and TA-DA, a gourmet breakfast. This is one I came up with on a whim, it's so good I had to share it!

Dare We Say, Healthy Guacamole

Guacamole and Margarita's are pretty much our staple combo. We eat a LOT of guacamole and while avocados are good for you if you quite a few it's not as healthy. I discovered a healthier version, it's just the same but you use asparagus. Yup that's right it's the one surprise element to this guacamole. You can't even taste the difference. I had my sisters try it and they had no idea what was different. It's great to entertain with and I bet NO ONE will ever know your little healthy ingredient.
Healthy Guacamole:
2 medium avocados
10-12 asparagus stalks
diced tomato
1 tbsp of lime juice
salt and garlic powder to taste
*diced jalapeno is optional

Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit and scoop out the inside. Chop the ends of the asparagus and discard. Chop the remaining asparagus into smaller pieces. Throw it all in a blender and puree until smooth. Chop up the tomatoes, add them as well as the salt, lime juice and garlic powder. Serve immediately.

To find out more of our recipes head on over to SA Current Blogs every Tuesday, or you can also type in The Style Dossier  in their search button
Throughout August we'll have a Mason Jar Cocktails, come check it out!!

Corn In A Cup

There's something about Fiesta that makes all the food tastes so much better. When you walk through La Villita you get the wafting scents of marinating steak & gorditas on a cast iron skillet. Now who knows it could be the mexican beer or just the pure excitement of Fiesta that makes everything taste that much better. Either way the chalupa's, taco's & of course corn in a cup taste amazing. There's nothing fancy about this corn in a cup recipe, it's just purely simple but purely delicious. It's just five basic ingredients. Sometimes the best recipe's are the easiest, don't ya think?

Valentines Day Shindig

It seems like every Valentines Day my sisters & I are in that "single bucket." No worries though we usually just go for cocktails with our friends & bash  talk about guys. No lovey dovey stuff just some good 'ol girl talk. That's why Valentines Day is a great time to throw a party & get all your single girls together, so why not a tapas party? It's so easy & fun to put together. Gather some colorful plates, flowers & linens, make some tasty little appetizers & tada!
This Valentines day we partnered with HEB & came up with some pretty great recipes. If you live in TX, HEB really is your go to store. We got all of this food for under $50 there. Plus HEB makes their very own products so we were able take a few shortcuts. You know things like homestyle meatballs, spicy marinara sauce, hot out of the oven french bread & honey cured ham. A store that saves us money & time is perfect because it gives us more time to drink with our girlfriends! Oh & by the way Happy Valentines Day!!

CHILI baby

threebeanturkeychili
Hey y'all! It feels so good to be blogging again. Who knew that editing food pictures could make me so happy! Boy do we have a fabulous recipe for you. A great Turkey Chili that's perfect for those cold nights. It's healthy but a little spicy all @ the same time. I got this recipe from Food Network but I changed it up a bit. I just added a can of diced tomato's & took out a few jalapenos (Katy is a big wimp when it comes to spicy food). It's the perfect recipe to feed a crowd, maybe the Superbowl perhaps? This chili is so good that my dad told me "it gives your mom's chili a run for it's money." Wow thanks dad!!

Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy

You may have noticed that my sister's & I are Hispanic. That's a no brainer. But if you knew us you might think we had a little Italian in us. My whole family loves Italian food way to much. We love trying new pasta recipes. Thanks to Pinterest I've found some really great recipe's. This pasta dish has two starts, lemon & garlic. Sounds pretty easy right? This dish takes no time @ all to make & it tastes so light & refreshing. It's perfect for the weekday meals, or when you need to throw something together quickly but has tons of flavor. Lately I've been craving this pasta which is NOT good for my hips!

Soup Queen

One little known fact about me is I LOVE soup. I mean EVERY kind of soup. My all time favorite soup is this tomato basil soup. It's so good that I pretty much compare every tomato soup recipe to it. I haven't really been able to find a recipe that even comes close but this one is the next best thing if you ask me. Oh & did I mention that this roasted tomato soup recipe has grilled cheese croutons. I mean as if this soup wasn't good enough they add these amazing little croutons. It's the cherry on top of the sundae. Thank you so much grilled cheese fairy's!

Dumplin'

Yes I'm one of those people that's OBSESSED with Pinterest. I used to make fun of Katy because she used it for everything. I would ask what should we make for dinner & she would say "let's check Pinterest" Now I'm one of those people, help!!
But I have a friend who is just like Pinterest. He has the best food & drink recipes. I'm not gonna lie I've put up a few of his recipes on the blog. Hey when you know some really fantastic recipes you want to share them right? This Chinese Dumpling Soup recipe is one of his best recipes. It takes no more than 10 minutes to make & it's delicious. Churro Time!

bakedchurros
Don't ya just love Pinterest? It seriously has the BEST recipes. Just the other night we had a whole "pinterest meal" it was delicious by the way. I can't wait to use Pinterest during the holidays. We're just going to apologize to everyone who follows us on Pinterest ahead of time. During the holidays we're probably going to get a little pin happy. But then again be on the lookout for some fabulous pins comin' your way!
Pinterest is great for easy breezy recipes. This churro recipe is exactly that. You really just need puff pastry (my fav) some cinnamon, sugar & chocolate dipping sauce. These are so delicious! Plus Churro's always remind me of Fiesta time in San Antonio, 8 months in counting!!!!

Strawberry Crostata

rusticstrawberrycrosata
Remember in my last food post I told y'all I was in LOVE with pastry puff? Well my love just got a little deeper. I used it to make a strawberry crostata with homemade whipped cream, yummmmm! It's wonderful for summer. It's tart & sweet & the whipped cream adds the perfect bite. We usually can't keep strawberries in our fridge, we love 'em that much. I'm just gonna go ahead & add this to my strawberry recipe file. I should just label that file "Devoured in 5 Minutes"

I might just turn into a blueberry.....

blueberrycreamcheesetartDuring the summer I like to give my oven a break. I only turn it on for really important things. Like a delicious roasted chicken, coconut cupcakes or even a good pastry puff. In my opinion pastry puff is the most delicious thing ever! You can put anything on it & it tastes great. We like to use it to make one big calzone. I used the pastry puff to make this delicious blueberry dessert. This is one of the easiest desserts ever & its tastes great. It's light & it's perfect for summer. Anything with lemon zest always gets my attention. I can't tell you enough how delicious this dessert was. Seriously Katy & I could NOT stop eating it! I can't wait to use this recipe on repeat. I see strawberries or raspberries in it's future.

Strawberry Delight

rsz_2strawberrydelight
Summer is finally here! You know what that means, lots of fresh fruit, refreshing drinks by the pool & the occasional ice cream cone. I'm a big fruit lover, especially strawberries. Ooooh especially strawberries with chocolate. Ok well this salad doesn't have chocolate covered strawberries but it does have some other great ingredients. Don't ya just love salads you just throw all the ingredients together! This salad is incredibly easy to make & it tastes delicious. It's sweet, creamy & a little tangy. It really is a great summer dish!

Rhubarb Shubarb

rsz_strawberryrhubarbcrisp
I've been wanting to make this exact recipe for a very very long time. Don't even ask me why I didn't because I couldn't even tell ya. I just knew that his strawberry rhubarb crisp had to be baking in my oven by the weekend. To tell you the truth rhubarb kinda scared me, I mean it's a big pink stalk. How delicious could it be? Well VERY delicious is the answer. Seriously this recipe is so good & surprisingly very easy.  It tastes so fresh, the rhubarb & strawberries are a match made in heaven! I don't know why I ever doubt Ina, she's a magician with desserts.

Viva Ceviche

When I was thinking of food posts for our Fiesta week a friend of mine suggested ceviche. My immediate reaction was "yeah right I'm not making that" but I didn't let him know I was thinking that. I did like every girl would I smiled & let him talk. Finally when he said I didn't have to cook the fish I got a little excited (fish is one thing I haven't cooked & I don't plan on doing it for a while) He said that the lime juice does all the cooking for you, now that sounds like my kind of recipe. I also found this video that helped a ton. All you do is chop, dice & voila! Plus I have to admit I have some mean knife skills if I do say so myself!
